The Prayer Book Platonist includes books, homilies and articles broadly on the themes of:

  1. The tradition of the Church of England’s Book of Common Prayer – not just 1662, but its various precursors and increasingly international successors, not least the Prayer Book of the Japanese Anglican Church.
  2. The broadly Platonic strand of Christian and Islamic thought and its rich spirituality, including the likes of Pseudo-Dionysius, Augustine, Eckhart, Ibn Arabi, the Cambridge Platonists and more recently, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.
  3. Sundry Japonica, including Aikido, the shakuhachi, and inter-faith theological explorations of Japanese Buddhism, particularly that of the Shin (True Pure Land) school.

The author insists that the apparent eccentricity of these interests does in fact converge into a unified whole… AMDG!
